Ing. Piero Laverda

Piero Laverda occupies a unique place in the world of classic motorcycling. There is no other famous name from the world of motorcycling who remains so accessible to the enthusiasts who have remained loyal to the brand. Piero is the son of Moto Laverda founder Francesco Laverda and, after gaining a degree in mechanical engineering, joined the factory becoming the Director of Production before progressing to General Manager and finally Managing Director . Between the years ’69 to ’75 his duties also included the management of the racing team during which time he presided over some of the amazing successes of the work’s team, particularly in the field of endurance racing. Piero’s irrepressible passion for motorcycling and his enthusiasm for the motorcycles which bear his family name means the proud tradition of Laverda Corse is assured for many years to come.
Giovanni Laverda

Giovanni is the son of Piero Laverda and the youngest member of the team. In keeping with family tradition he holds a Master’s degree in engineering management from Padova University. Since 1998 he has been actively involved in the maintenance and restoration of the team’s collection of works bikes. For a number of years he has been collating information , photographs and other important archive material relating to the history of Moto Laverda.
Augusto Brettoni

Augusto Brettoni will need no introduction to Laverda fans all over the world. His association with the factory began in 1969 becoming a works rider in the 1970s where his name became synonymous with the factory’s endurance racing successes. He’s been a racer, dealer, tester and today has a business in the Florence area specialising in Laverda tuning and restoration work where he is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s leading Laverda tuners. He is an expert in the marque and a valuable source of historical reference for his knowledge of racing and technical details relating to Laverdas.
Roberto Gallina

Roberto’s illustrious racing career has gained him a unique place in Laverda’s history. His racing activities spanned two decades and he competed in more than 180 GPs, production races, hillclimbs and endurance events notching up over 60 wins in that period. He was a Laverda works rider in the ’72,’73 and ’75 seasons racing the SFC 750 and spaceframe endurance machine. In ’75 Roberto created Team Gallina and , with riders such as Luchinelli, Uncini , Chili and Ferrari, the team won 18 GPs , two worlds championships and 12 national championships with Suzuki. Today he operates a successful MV dealership.
Eduardo Dossena

Eduardo is an important member of the race team and handles all the technical work in the pits working closely with Piero planning the race strategy. Eduardo’s motorcycling history is impressive ; he’s a very talented off road rider and was an 8 times a gold medal winner in ISDTs , he won the 750cc class of the Moto Giro D’Italia in ’68 . In circuit racing he had a 1st place at the 24 Hours of Oss partnered with Augusto Brettoni, a 7th place at the Le Mans 24 hour riding an SFC as well as many other achievements After his career at Moto Laverda he went on be a successful motorcycle dealer .
Fernando Capellotto

Fernando is always a popular attraction whenever he appears with the team. His smooth, effortless riding style is evidence of his former career during which he covered an estimated 2,000,000 kms as Laverda’s test rider. A former racer, Fernando competed in the sport production classes riding the 750cc class in the Italian Championships and the 1000cc class in the Magnani Trophy. He is an expert mechanic, particularly on the 1000cc engine and nowadays manages a team of riders who provide motorcycle escorts for major cycling events.
Guiliano Cogo

Guiliano began his career with Moto Laverda back in the 1970s. He is a highly skilled electronics technician and an expert in customer technical support. Guiliano continued his career with the Zane factory where he was also very active in managing the endurance racing team during the 1990s. Guiliano is now an after sales manager for the Aprilia Guzzi Laverda group
Bruno Chevolet

Bruno has played a vital role in the formation of Laverda Corse and acts as co-ordinator and organiser for the team’s appearances at some of the major classic bike gatherings such as Spa Biker’s Classics. He has been a Laverda enthusiast for many years and owns a number of Laverdas . At these meetings many will have seen Bruno with his immaculate Brettoni- prepared SFC.
Marnix van der Schalk
Marnix is a well known name in the Laverda world and is acknowledged as the leading expert on the 750 twins and in particular the SFC. He is the co author of the book ‘750 SFC’ which has become the definitive work of reference for SFC enthusiasts. Marnix was the official Laverda importer for the Netherlands during the 1990s , nowadays he is a key member of the van Dijks Laverda endurance race team and he also maintains the International SFC Owners Registry.

Cor Dees

Cor is the owner and patron of the famous Laverda museum in Lisse, Holland where he maintains the most important collection of Laverdas in private hands. Cor has many years experience in precision engineering which makes him well qualified to carry out the complex restorations the museum is renowned for. The museum’s most famous project is the acquisition of most of the remaining V6 spares which Cor has been collecting over the years and work is well under way to complete the only other Laverda V6 in the world outside the Laverda family collection.

Hermann Ansorge
Hermann began his racing career riding a Puch 250 in slalom classes more years ago than he probably cares to remember! From there his racing progressed into various production classes. His involvement with Laverda dates back many years to 1974 when he bought a 1000cc 3C. Nowadays he campaigns his meticulously prepared Barcelona replica with the team.
Rob Dixon

Bob is a lifelong Laverda enthusiast and regularly competes on Laverdas in a wide variety of disciplines including regolaritas, hillclimbs, sprints and long distance off- road events. He has recently joined Laverda Corse and acts as the UK representative for the team. He’s a regular contributor to a number of well known motorcycling publications and has a website dedicated to the Laverda 500 twins.
