Eclectic rider, he participated more than 180 times in various GP, Endurance, Mountain and Sport Production races during the period 1960-1975, out of which he won more than 60 races. He was works Laverda rider during the seasons 1972, 1973 and 1975, racing both with the 750 SFC and the 1000 Space Frame. In 1975 he created the "Team Gallina", which was joined by all the most famous Italian riders of the 70's and 80's (Ferrari, Lucchinelli, Uncini and Chili). With his Team Gallina, Roberto won 18 GP and twice the 500cc World Championships (in 1981 and 1982) with Suzuki bikes, but also 12 National Championships. In cooperation with Massimo Tamburini he founded in 1986 an R&D center in Rimini for prototype development, later sold to Cagiva group. Today Roberto runs an MV dealer shop together with his son Michele, who is a racing rider as well. |
